Skip Alohomora II v1.0

Skips the Alohomora mini-game to open locks at your Level (but not higher). A new version of my Skip Alohomora mod that uses a different method to achieve the same thing.

Versions
See the “Changelogs” dropdown just above.

A note regarding the wand-cast and incantation
This mod will play the wand-cast animation and the incantation voice-over… but don’t be surprised if they don’t happen every time. When the game was first launched and people discovered that they had to spam revelio to find stuff, it drove us all mad that the main character (“MC”) would say “Revelio” every time. So the game devs patched it as follows: 1) If you cast the same spell more than once the MC will only speak the incantation the first time, and 2) If you cast the same spell within 30 seconds the MC will only speak the incantation the first time. To make the MC say the incantation every time you must circumvent this “patch” by using Revelio then basic cast after you use Alohomora.

A note regarding the Stand Up Straight mod
If you use the Stand Up Straight mod, please update to version 2.0 of that mod, otherwise it will interrupt the wand-cast animation.

Introduction
This is new a version of my Skip Alohomora mod, but it uses a different method to achieve the same thing. The original version used a “master key” function inside the game to set the lock to open automatically, but the actual opening was done by the game. The mod was therefore in a race to implement the master key before the game opened the lock. For most people the mod won that race and the mod worked fine. But for a few people the mod always lost the race so the mod didn’t work. I suspect this is because different hardware configurations process some things faster than others. This mod uses a new method which doesn’t suffer from this “race condition” problem, so it should work for everyone. The only down side is that you can no longer use the default “interact” button (usually “F” for keyboard users) to open locks. You must use a different key. I’ve set it to F9 by default but you can change this.

If you like the original Skip Alohomora mod and would like to keep using it, but find that it occasionally fails, you can have both that mod and this one installed. Then you can use F to open most locks or F9 if that fails.

Installation
– Download the mod.
– Unzip the contents.
– Move the .utoc, .ucas, and .pak file to the Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\ folder.
– Install Blueprint Apparate Modloader if you haven’t already.
– Start Hogwarts Legacy
– Load your most recent save-file.
– Press the F8 key to activate Blueprint Apparate Modloader.
– Type SkipAlohomoraII in the little window and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
– The word SkipAlohomoraII should disappear and reappear lower down in that window with an X next to it. If it doesn’t – if it stays on the top line – then either a) you put the .utoc, .ucas and .pak files in the wrong folder, or b) one of your existing mods is already using pakchunk 1050. Use my PakChunk Checker to check that. If you have a pakchunk conflict see the Conflicts section below.
– Press F8 again to close the modloader window.

Note that you only need to follow the above process once. From now on the mod will just work.

Default Key Binding
By default this mod uses the following key bindings:
– F9 = Instantly open a nearby lock if you have the necessary level of Alohomora.

Custom Key Bindings
You can change the key bindings to anything you like as follows:
– Download & install the latest version of this mod, start the game, do the F8 thing (if you haven’t already), load a save file, then shut down the game.
– In Windows Explorer type %localappdata%\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor into the -address bar at the top and hit Enter.
– Left click Input.ini then right click it and select “Edit” (or “Open with” > “Notepad”).
– Search for OpenAllLocksII. You should find entries like those below.
– Change the items shown in green below to whatever you want. Key names can be found here.
– Restart the game.

ActionMappings=(ActionName=”OpenAllLocksII_Execute”,bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=F9,GroupName=””,SortIndex=0)

How to Un-Install
Delete the .utoc, .ucas, and .pak files from the ~mods folder.

Conflicts
This mod uses pakchunk 1050. That’s the same pakchunk as my Open All Locks II mod. I used the same pakchunk deliberately because these two mods are not compatible with each other – you can’t have both installed at the same time because they are the same mod, but with different options enabled internally.

You can check if it conflicts with any of your other mods by running my PakChunk Checker batch script after you’ve installed the mod. If it does conflict, you can use the Chunk ID Conflict Manager to resolve the conflict.

Known Issues
The following are known issues. If you encounter any others please let me know in the POSTS section:
– The wand-cast animation and incantation voice-over don’t always play. (See the note regarding the wand-cast and incantation above.)
– If you hit the interact key (usually “F”) too soon after casting a spell the player’s movement controls get frozen. You can only escape by fast-travelling or reloading a recent savefile.
– The mod will auto-disable when you open the lock during the “Caretaker’s Lunar Lament”, “Take the Biscuit” and “Fire And Vice” missions. This is deliberate because skipping the minigame for those locks will break the quest.
